We care about animal welfare, and that speaks volumes.

Dr. Lori Wyatt, DVM, CCRP
Dr. Wyatt has practiced veterinary medicine for over 26 years after graduating from the Tuskegee School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 as a member of the prestigious Phi Zeta Honor Society for male and female veterinarians. She moved to Illinois in 1991 after her small animal medicine and surgery internship at Purdue University. After 5 combined years of practice at the DuPage Animal Hospital in Villa Park and the Country Court Animal Hospital in Buffalo Grove, she founded The Animal Doctor hospital in Cary in 1996. Seeking to contribute to the career and/or retirement goals of other veterinarians who wished to sell the great practices that they owned, she acquired the Sycamore Animal Hospital in 2013 and the Animal Medical Center of Crystal Lake in 2015.

Dr. Wyatt enjoys soft-tissue surgery, is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon, and has always been delighted to teach while continually expanding her own expertise in veterinary medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys gourmet cooking, interior decorating, painting, music, bible study, singing with her church choir, and walking her dog, Kaleb. She also enjoys spending time with her husband (Karl), her daughter (Karla) and with her extended family in Kentucky, Ohio and Maryland.

Dr. Kerry Lovell, DVM
Growing up on a small farm in Iowa, Dr. Lovell's interest in animals started at a young age. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Luther College, he went on to veterinary school at Iowa State University, graduating in 2000.
Following Graduation, he briefly practiced in Florida before coming back to the Midwest where he worked with Dr. Wyatt (the first time) at The Animal Doctor in Cary. After several years in general practice, he decided to follow his interest in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine. Dr. Lovell worked at Companion Animal Specialty and Emergency in Crystal Lake for the past 12 years, where he has managed routine emergencies along with complicated medical cases.
While he enjoys the challenges that emergency medicine brings, he missed the relationships formed with clients and their pets and looked forward to coming back to day practice. Dr. Lovell enjoys all aspects of companion animal medicine and surgery.
When he's not at the office, he is usually attending his kids' sporting events or working on home projects. He shares his home with his partner Mari, tween twins Quinn and Aidan, and a handful of playful cats and dogs.

Dr. Katie Leister, DVM
Dr. Leister grew up in Northern Indiana. After graduating from the Indiana University in Bloomington, she attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation in 2016, Dr. Leister completed a rotating small animal internship and a specialty internship in anesthesia and analgesia (pain management). After practicing for a couple of years in New York State, Dr. Leister returned to the Midwest where we're delighted to have her join the medical staff at Animal Medical Center of Crystal Lake!
Dr. Leister brings a fascinating background in veterinary exotic companion medicine, having triaged as many as 50-60 wildlife and exotic patients daily. She has assisted in the treatment and rehabilitation of hundreds of in-hospital exotic and wildlife patients. She has also trained medical team members in basic wildlife veterinary care. She has even managed the anesthesia of leopards, lions, and tigers both during dental procedures and post-surgical recovery.
Dr. Leister's special interests include anesthesia, pain management, strengthening the human/animal bond and exotic pet care, though she looks forward to getting to know all of your furry, feathered, and scaled family members!
When not at work, Dr. Leister enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, comedy movies, and spending time with her zoo of pets, including her three Labrador Retrievers, a cat, two parakeets, two ferrets, a tortoise, and a beta fish.
